Defining Your Goal

Whenever you set out to do anything or to go anywhere in life, you need to have an idea of the end result. If you are baking a cake, you know what to expect when it is done and you know what steps to take to get the results you want. If you are taking a trip, you plan out your route before you start. You know what direction to go and what cities you will be traveling through to get to your destination.

Have you determined where your business is going? Do you know what steps you have to take to get there? Or like many people are you just "taking it one day at a time and seeing where it goes?" That is kind of like getting into your car and saying "Let's just follow this road and see where it takes us." That is fine if you are just out for a joy ride and you don't care where you end up, but if you have a definite destination in mind, you will most likely not get there very quickly if at all.

Determine your goal for your business. What do you want to accomplish? Why did you start the business? Now, break that down into steps to take you to your goal. What one thing can you do right now to get you closer to your goal? What can you do next? Keep asking yourself the same question "What next?" You will get to your goal.
